In honour of Pride Month, which ran throughout June, we have donated a total of £2,000 to four LGBTQ+ charities, one for each region we operate in.
Lincoln Pride, Norfolk LGBT+ Project, Sunrise Diversity in Devon and Leicester LGBT Centre, who fall within our Central, Eastern Counties, South West and East Midlands regions respectively, each received a donation of £500.
John Anderson, CEO of Allison Group, said: “We are very proud to have donated £500 to each of these wonderful charities to celebrate this year’s Pride Month.
“At Allison Homes, a huge part of our ethos is aiding the communities amongst which we operate in as much as possible, and we are delighted to have offered our support to LGBTQ+ individuals in and around Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Devon and Leicestershire.”
Lincoln Pride is a community run charity event, operated by a small team of volunteers and providing the people of Lincoln and the surrounding areas with a fun and safe space. This year, the event is taking place in the city centre at Tentercroft Street Car Park on Saturday 19th August, and will celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as draw attention to important issues.
David Brown, Director of Accessibility and Inclusion at Lincoln Pride, said: “Lincoln Pride would like to thank Allison Homes for the kind donation to Pride. Without the support from our fabulous sponsors Pride simply wouldn’t be possible.”
Founded in 2007, Norfolk LGBT+ Project is the county’s only dedicated LGBT+ health and wellbeing provider, offering support, information and advice to all ages. The charity’s goal is to help empower individuals to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing, and to reduce social isolation of LGBT+ individuals living in Norfolk and Waveney.
Fiona Liew-Bedford, CEO at Norfolk LGBT+ Project, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Allison Homes for their generous donation. This £500 will go towards the work we do in supporting members of the LGBT+ community in Norfolk and Waveney, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Sunrise Diversity is a grassroots community organisation, providing activities, training, services and events for people living in Northern Devon, including those of diverse identities such as minority ethnic groups, disabled people and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
In support of LGBTQ+ individuals in particular, Sunrise Diversity organises regular social groups and this year is hosting Barnstaple Pride on Saturday 29th July. The first Pride March in Barnstaple was held in 2018 and has run every year since, including virtually during the pandemic.
Ana Gabriela Lodge, CEO of Sunrise Diversity, said: “We would like to thank Allison Homes for this wonderful donation. We are a small local charity with big goals to support our diverse communities, and without support from the community and companies like Allison Homes we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.
“We can’t wait to host the Barnstaple LGBTQ+ Pride March for the third year, and hope to see lots of familiar and new faces there.”
Leicester LGBT Centre is a voluntary organisation established over 46 years ago, providing direct support to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Leicestershire and Rutland. As part of its services, Leicester LGBT Centre offers counselling sessions, runs youth groups and hosts social activities each week.
The charity is run by a small team of volunteers, and works closely with a range of local organisations to work towards eradicating homophobia.
Seun Bakare, Chief Executive at Leicester LGBT Centre, said: “On behalf of all of us at Leicester LGBT Centre, I’d like to thank Allison Homes for their donation of £500. We are a very small team, so any financial contribution like this goes a long way in helping us to reach and support more LGBT individuals in the county.”
