Allison Homes donates drawstring bags to Oakham primary school for Walk to School Week

To celebrate Walk to School Week, which is running from Monday 15th to Friday 19th May, our Central region has donated drawstring bags to Oakham CofE Primary School, encouraging children to walk or cycle to school with their parents and guardians.

A total of 68 bags were donated to the primary school, which is just over a mile away from our Farriers Reach development, ensuring that every pupil in years one and two received one.

The bags were also filled with pens, pencils, rulers, reflective keyrings, stickers and hard hat-shaped stress balls.

Mr Stephen Cox, Headteacher at Oakham CofE Primary School, said: “We would like to thank Allison Homes for their generous donation. The children were so excited to receive their bags and to be celebrating Walk to School Week. This is an excellent way to inspire our pupils to walk or cycle to and from school, and we’re delighted that so many of them are getting involved.”

William Wallace, Sales Manager at Allison Homes, said: “We are delighted to have donated these drawstring bags to Oakham CofE Primary School. Our hope is that the children will feel encouraged to walk to school every day, as they can carry all their items in their brand new bags.

“Our Farriers Reach development includes new foot and cycle paths, and we’re proud to give our residents a safe, easy and sustainable way to experience the development and surrounding areas to the fullest. We would like to encourage any of our families to get involved with Walk to School Week too.”

Located off Main Road in Barleythorpe, Oakham, in the heart of Rutland, Farriers Reach is a beautiful collection of one and two bedroom apartments, and two, three and four bedroom houses.

Barleythorpe brook runs through the development, which also consists of parks, open spaces, play areas, allotments and a new community centre.

Oakham is a traditional, community-focused market town, with regular markets selling local produce, independent shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs.

Excellent road links mean the towns of Stamford, Melton Mowbray and Corby are within easy reach, and Leicester and Nottingham are within 35 miles. Oakham railway station offers routes to Birmingham, Leicester, Peterborough, Cambridge and Stansted Airport.
