Allison Homes is ‘Highly Commended’ at The Peterborough Telegraph Apprentice Awards

We are proud to announce that we have received two ‘Highly Commended’ certificates for both the Large Apprentice Employer of the Year and Construction Apprentice of the Year categories at The Peterborough Telegraph Apprentice Awards 2023.

The Peterborough Telegraph Apprentice Awards are an annual event hosted by the publication to recognise the hard work of apprentices, mentors and employers alike and to celebrate those who have excelled in their chosen field.

The Large Apprentice Employer of the Year category specifically recognises companies with over 250 employees that offer an apprenticeship programme and is intended to recognise the high quality, genuine benefit to apprentices, and impressive future plans of the employers’ scheme.

The Construction Apprentice of the Year award was open to apprentices who were enrolled in a programme by September 2022, and is intended to celebrate apprentices in the construction sector who demonstrate a high level of commitment to their work and studies and have proven to excel in both areas.

The awards ceremony took place on at the Holiday Inn West Thorpe Wood, in Peterborough, where our very own Leland Moore accepted his certificate for Construction Apprentice of the Year, and Allison Homes was given the certificate for the Large Apprentice Employer category.

Leland joined our Central region as a carpentry apprentice in September 2022 through his studies at Stamford College. In an effort to give back to the communities we build in, we have been working closely with the college to provide apprenticeship opportunities for their students, allowing them to get practical, hands-on experience and work towards formal qualifications.

The now ‘Highly Commended’ apprenticeship scheme typically involves a work placement alongside study time, in which the apprentices usually spend one day at college and four days on site. Leland is currently studying for his Level 2 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery and has shown an impressive level of dedication and commitment throughout both his written studies and onsite training.

John Anderson, CEO of Allison Group, said: “At Allison Homes, we prioritise giving back to the communities we build in through educational initiatives. Everyone involved in the operation of our apprenticeship scheme is committed to ensuring that every individual who participates has a valuable experience, setting them on the path to a successful career in the building sector.

“Receiving these commendations from The Peterborough Telegraph Apprentice Awards is a testament to the hard work and dedication that everyone at Allison Homes invests into achieving that goal, and we are committed to continuously improving the scheme so we can receive further recognition in the future.”
