Allison Homes Central supports local hedgehog charity with £250 donation
We were delighted to support local charity Hedgehog Welfare with a £250 donation during this year’s Hedgehog Awareness Week, helping the organisation continue its work rescuing and rehabilitating hedgehogs across the Grantham and Newark area.
Hedgehog Awareness Week ran from Sunday 3rd to Saturday 9th May and was organised by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS), to highlight the growing threats facing Britain’s hedgehog population and encourage practical conservation efforts.
Founded by renowned conservationist Janet Peto more than 30 years ago, Hedgehog Welfare cares for injured, sick and abandoned hedgehogs before releasing them back into the wild. The charity officially registered in 2021 and now rescues and rehabilitates more than 150 hedgehogs every year.
The charity is supported by a dedicated team of carers and volunteers who contribute in a variety of ways, from handmaking crafts to raise funds, to feeding baby hedgehogs around the clock and preparing nesting materials.
Our £250 donation will go towards supporting Hedgehog Welfare’s website and newsletter costs, helping the charity continue raising awareness and supporting its ongoing rescue and rehabilitation work. The donation was presented at our Manthorpe Chase development in Grantham, located close to the charity’s operations.
Philip Braund, Chair of Hedgehog Welfare, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive £250 from Allison Homes. We are a small charity, and every penny is precious in helping us save hedgehogs.
“Recently, we have started using social media to raise awareness of the plight facing Britain’s hedgehogs, and the Allison Homes donation will help support those ongoing running costs. It’s heartening to know prestigious building firms are aware of environmental needs when building new homes.”
Kelly Toms, Sales and Marketing Director at Allison Homes Central, said: “Hedgehog Welfare carries out fantastic work supporting one of Britain’s most loved and vulnerable native animals. We were delighted to support the charity during Hedgehog Awareness Week and help raise awareness of the important conservation efforts taking place locally.
“At Allison Homes, we’re proud to support charities and organisations that make a meaningful difference within the communities close to our developments.”
Situated on Belton Lane, Manthorpe Chase offers a collection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, less than a 10 minute drive from Grantham town centre.
