Allison Homes Central supports golf day in Somersham raising funds for Stroke Association
The Somersham community came together last month for a charity golf day with a powerful purpose – raising funds and awareness for the Stroke Association.
Held on Friday 3rd October, the event brought together residents, businesses and volunteers for a fantastic day on the course. With 20 teams taking part, the day raised an incredible £12,000 to support the charity’s vital work.
The event was organised by local resident Stuart Porter in memory of his father, who sadly passed away after a sudden stroke in June last year, and combined friendly competition with life-saving information. Throughout the day, attendees were encouraged to learn and share the FAST test – Face, Arms, Speech, Time – which helps people spot the signs of a stroke quickly.
Stuart said: “The inspiration for the golf day ultimately came from losing my dad to a stroke. By raising awareness of what to do in the case of a stroke, and how to prevent it, I hope we can potentially save a life and a family from going through what I’ve been through in the last year.”

Our Central region was proud to support the event by donating branded golf balls for the teams, helping every player get involved while showing our continued commitment to supporting local causes.
Andy Richards, Regional Production Director at Allison Homes Central, said: “We are very proud to have helped Stuart host such a meaningful event. We’re passionate about giving back to our communities, and this golf day not only raised vital funds for the Stroke Association but also spread an important message that could save lives.”
In Somersham, we’re building a welcoming new community at Cranbrook Grange, offering a range of two, three and four bedroom homes, located on The Bank.
