Deck out your entire home for Christmas with £100 or less

The holiday season is here! If you’ve just moved into a new home or simply want to refresh your festive décor, transforming your space into a Christmas wonderland doesn’t need to cost a fortune. With a little creativity, resourcefulness and some savvy shopping, you can spread the cheer and stay under £100.

So, pop on your favourite festive film, get cosy with a hot chocolate and take a peek at our fun and fabulous tips to make your home sparkle with festive vibes.

Pick a Christmas tree that keeps your wallet happy
A tree is a staple of Christmas, but it doesn’t need to be giant or expensive to have a great impact. Major retailers, like Argos, Asda, B&M and more, are selling trees measuring 6ft tall for up to £20, allowing you to enjoy this festive tradition without breaking the bank.

If you want to go cheaper, 3ft trees can be purchased for under £10 and come in a wide variety of vibrant colours, from pale pink, to blue, to full on rainbow.

Embrace tinsel and fairy lights
Tinsel and fairy lights are perfect Christmas decorations, as they’re both cheap and versatile. Up to 15 metres of tinsel can be bought for under £10 and strings of 50 fairy lights for under £5. Both can be re-used year after year in every room of the house, by being put up around the tree, hung over shelves and cabinets, or used as table runners and garlands, transforming each space into a glittery haven.

Create your own decorations
Instead of spending too much on baubles, ornaments and wreaths, get crafty and make your own. Not only will this save you money, but it’ll also create fun activities for the whole family to get involved in, and perhaps you’ll unlock a new talent along the way!

You can go traditional and make paper snowflakes or garlands using leftover wrapping paper, use cheap materials like sparkly pipe cleaners to create your own decorations, or re-vamp old baubles with paint and glitter rather than throwing them away.

Christmas crackers can be crafted with toilet roll tubes and ribbon, and you can even make your own wreath using a wire frame, some twine, and greenery and pinecones from your garden.

Treasure hunt in charity shops
If arts and crafts aren’t for you, go exploring in your local charity shops to find inexpensive baubles and ornaments. Not only will this allow you to decorate your home without abandoning your budget, but you’ll also come across unique items that can’t be found on the high street, making your home décor feel even more special and envied by friends and family.

Add some festive fragrances
Once you’ve got your home looking the way you want, it’s time to add the finishing touch and bring in some festive scents. You don’t need to splash out on expensive candles or spend hours baking gingerbread to make your home smell like Christmas, as bags of potpourri and scented tealights are available for under £5.

Natural ingredients can even be used to create your own fragrant decorations. Try adding dried oranges slices, cinnamon sticks and pine cones to a large bowl with a few drops of essential oil, which can also be bought for under £5, for homemade potpourri. Or simmer your favourite festive ingredients, such as apple slices, cranberries, cloves, vanilla extract and rosemary, in a pot of water for a long-lasting aroma.
