About the Role

This is a full-time role to be based in the Peterborough office, although travel to developments will be required.

This is an opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual who wants the opportunity to develop a career in the housebuilding industry. The ideal candidate will be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with strong client relationship skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

As a Planning Graduate you will work with the Land and Planning teams getting involved at the first stage of the build process to acquire land for development with a view of building quality homes and communities.

There will be a variety of exciting projects to work on, helping develop your knowledge and skills.

Key Duties:

  • Assisting planning colleagues to complete appraisals for potential immediate and strategic development opportunities.
  • Assisting Planning colleagues in the co-ordination and preparation of planning applications and then maintaining involvement throughout the planning process.
  • Management of minor variation, condition clearance, pre-application advice and section 106 obligation discharge applications.
  • Coordination of public engagement exercises and liaison with key stakeholders and community groups.
  • Developing relationships with Local Planning Authorities and industry professionals.
  • Assistance in maintaining a Local Planning Authority Monitoring database.

Skills Required:

  • RTPI accredited course
  • Related work experience beneficial
  • Well organised, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish relationships with a variety of clients
  • Team player: demonstrating an ability to integrate and function within a busy, multi-disciplinary team and wider business / office.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and have good time management skills
  • Highly motivated, with a desire to progress, deliver high standards of work
  • The successful Graduate Planner will preferably hold an MRTPI accredited degree with a willingness to proceed through the APC process (to be supported by the Planning team).
