Apprentice shortlisted for ‘Construction Apprentice of the Year’ award

We are delighted to announce that our very own Leland Moore has been shortlisted for a ‘Construction Apprentice of the Year’ award.

The Peterborough Telegraph Apprentice Awards are hosted by the publication to recognise the hard work of apprentices, mentors and employers alike and to celebrate those who have excelled in their chosen field.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 14th September at the Holiday Inn West Thorpe Wood, in Peterborough, where we will find out if Leland has secured the top prize.

Leland joined our Central region as a carpentry apprentice in September 2022 through his studies at Stamford College. In an effort to give back to the communities we build in, we have been working closely with Stamford College to provide apprenticeship opportunities for their students, allowing them to get practical, hands-on experience and work towards formal qualifications.

The apprenticeship scheme typically involves a work placement alongside study time, in which the apprentices usually spend one day at college and four days on site. Leland is currently studying for his Level 2 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery and has shown an impressive level of dedication and commitment throughout both his written studies and onsite training.

Naomi Tickle, Apprenticeship Development Manager at Allison Homes, said: “I am incredibly proud that Leland has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award. Having only started out as an apprentice last year, it is remarkable to see the progress he has made already. He has been a joy to train and always has a smile on his face with everything he does, and all of us at Allison Homes are rooting for him to win.

“Giving back to the community though educational opportunities such as this is incredibly important to us, and we wish Leland the best of luck.”
