Witheridge community benefits from over £15,000 in donations

Community groups and charities in Witheridge received more than £15,000 in donations last year from Allison Homes South West, which helped to support a wide range of local causes.

The donations were made through the housebuilder’s Partnership Pledge, which gives £100 to local charities and community projects for every home sold at its developments. With 155 new homes delivered in the second phase of the now-complete Willow Heights site, a total of £15,500 has been shared among organisations providing vital services and activities in the area.

Among those to benefit included:

  • Witheridge FC
  • Rest a While
  • Witheridge Voice
  • Witheridge Warriors Youth FC
  • Witheridge C of E Primary
  • Witheridge in Bloom
  • Witheridge Social Club
  • Knights of Witheridge
  • Witheridge YFC
  • Witheridge Rocks Youth Club
  • St John’s Fair
  • Witheridge Christmas Tree

Peter Jones, (Independent) District Councillor for Witheridge, said: “The contributions to many groups in Witheridge have made a real difference locally, and we’re grateful to Allison Homes South West for following through on their commitment. It’s also good to see practical improvements being supported, including work to improve access at the Rest-a-While Community Centre and bringing the village pump track back into use.

While a development of this size in a small community can bring understandable concerns and challenges, I am grateful to the team at Allison Homes South West for maintaining an open and constructive dialogue.

Andy Cattermole, planning director from Allison Homes South West, added: “Our aim is to create developments that deliver a lasting, positive impact. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our donations already helping local organisations. We believe strong partnerships with councils and communities are key to building places where people truly thrive.

In addition to the Partnership Pledge, Willow Heights delivered £385,488 in contributions towards local infrastructure and amenities through Section 106 contributions. Allison Homes South West took the unusual steps of releasing these funds at the start of the development, before the homes were completed, to ensure the community could start to benefit right away. Contributions included:

  • £400,678 towards community spaces such as play space equipment, a skate park and improvements to Witheridge Village Hall
  • £302,750 towards primary and secondary education
  • £20,000 for highways improvements
  • £18,572 towards NHS services
