Allison Homes secures planning permission to build 110 homes in March
Allison Homes East has been given the green light to build 110 homes on Upwell Road in March, following approval from Fenland District Council on its reserved matters application.
The plans were unanimously approved at the Planning Committee meeting on October 30 comes after outline planning permission was granted by appeal in January 2024.
The approved reserved matters application focuses on the appearance, landscaping, layout, and scale of the new development. It will feature a mix of one to four-bedroom properties, with a minimum of 22 homes designated as affordable housing, accounting for 20% of the total units.
The development will also contribute approximately £300,000 towards local infrastructure improvements. The funding will support enhancements such as £16,000 for local footpath improvements, £165,000 towards highway contributions at Peas Hill Roundabout or A141/Hostmoor Avenue Junction improvements, £16,225 for library services at March Library, and £95,000 for healthcare capacity at local practices.
Georgina McCrae, Planning Director at Allison Homes East, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning approval for our Upwell Road development in March. This project is about delivering high-quality, sustainable homes that meet local needs.
“I also want to thank Fenland District Council’s officers working positively and collaboratively with our team throughout the planning process.”
The development will encompass over one hectare of public open space, which will include a new play area and native landscaping. Additionally, a public footpath along the southern boundary of the site will be upgraded to improve accessibility for residents.
All homes will be equipped with electric vehicle charging points and solar panels, achieving a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of B. A three-meter easement along the eastern ditch will also be maintained to address environmental considerations.
Looking ahead, Allison Homes anticipates that construction will begin in early 2025, the development aims to meet housing need and enrich the community of March with sustainable living options and essential amenities.
