Allison Homes Central inspires pupils at Eye CofE Primary School’s careers fair

Our Central region has supported a careers fair at Eye CofE Primary School, helping Year Six pupils learn more about the housebuilding industry and the different career paths available within construction.

The event saw Leland Moore, Trainee Assistant Site Manager, and Paul Vasey, Senior Site Manager, visit the school to speak with pupils about their roles, day-to-day responsibilities and experiences working in the construction sector.

During the visit, Leland and Paul shared insight into the variety of jobs involved in building new homes, from apprenticeships and site management to trade-based careers. They also spoke to pupils about the skills needed to work in construction, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving and attention to detail.

The careers fair gave pupils the opportunity to meet professionals from a range of industries, ask questions and begin exploring the different pathways available to them as they think about their futures.

Our support of the fair follows our recent acquisition of land off Eyebury Road in Eye, where we will deliver a new development called Colliers Rest. The development will provide 265 new homes, including 185 for open market sale and 80 affordable homes, alongside more than three hectares of public open space, new play areas and allotments.

As part of the scheme, we’ve also allocated land for an extension to Eye CofE Primary School and will contribute more than £1.3 million towards supporting local infrastructure.

Eye CofE Primary School said: “The careers fair was a huge success, and each and every child came back to the classroom discussing how much fun they had had. Allison Homes went to so much effort and the children were thoroughly impressed with all their goodies. Thank you so much to Allison Homes, we hope to see them again next year.”

Paul Vasey, Senior Site Manager at Allison Homes Central, said: “It was a pleasure attending the careers fair. The children were incredibly engaged and asked some great questions throughout the day.
