Allison Homes East Midlands invests in future with first graduate appointment

We’re delighted to have welcomed our East Midlands region’s first graduate, as part of our commitment to supporting the next generation of housebuilding professionals.

Joe White recently joined us as Land and Partnerships Graduate, following his graduation from the University of Manchester in early July, where he studied English Literature. After speaking with someone within the housebuilding industry, Joe was inspired to take on the role within our East Midlands team.

Joe, from Radcliffe on Trent in Nottingham, said: “I was lucky enough to find out about the role from an Allison Homes employee, who asked me whether I had considered this career path. When I told him I hadn’t, he was kind enough to tell me about the role and business. I loved Allison Homes’ values and vision to be known as ‘The Homebuilder You Can Trust’, as I wanted to work for a company where I knew customers could rely on the product.

I’d never heard about this role when I started University or job hunting, but now I’m here it already feels like the perfect fit.

As Land and Partnerships Graduate, Joe splits his time between working at our regional head office in Castle Donington and visiting different sites, where he’s able to meet new people during the process of sourcing and buying land.

Joe continued: “I’m absolutely loving my time at Allison Homes. My role is really exciting and I’m looking forward to taking on new challenges. Whatever job I’m doing I always want to be learning and adapting so that I can put my best foot forward, whether I’m a graduate, head of department or director.

Allison Homes has been an incredible employer too. The company feels like a family as everyone is so kind, helpful and receptive to all the different questions I’m asking, and we have a shared determination to be the best and help the region to grow. I’m getting to work alongside a really strong and knowledgeable group, who all have different areas of expertise that I can learn from.

I would 100 per cent recommend construction as an industry to work in, it feels like I’m making a real difference in helping bring new homes to communities. So much time and consideration goes into where we build and it’s incredible to work for a developer that is so committed to giving back to the communities which we want to help grow.

Karl Edwards, Managing Director at Allison Homes East Midlands, said: “We’re so proud to have appointed Joe as our region’s first graduate. The construction sector is facing a real skills shortage, so across the business we’re always looking out for new ways to invest in young talent and showcase housebuilding as an exciting industry to build a career in.

Joe has immediately got stuck into his role, learning as much as he can and tackling every new challenge with determination. We’re looking forward to watching him grow and hope to welcome many more graduates to our region in the future, as providing young people with viable career opportunities is something we’re very passionate about.

Our East Midlands region is currently delivering new homes within Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
