Help to Buy
What is Help to Buy?
Help to Buy offers an equity loan where the government lends first-time buyers and existing homeowners money to buy a newly-built home. The government loan is interest free for the first five years and can account for up to 20% of the purchase price. If you qualify for Help to Buy, you only need to find 5% deposit.
The government has recently extended the scheme from 2021 to 2023, although the extension applies only to first time buyers so bear that in mind if you already own a home.
How does it work?
- Choose your dream Allison home (just check your chosen plot/house type is eligible for the scheme)
- Complete the online application and a financial consultation
- Reserve your new home and submit the application for your purchase. Our Independent Mortgage Advisor can assist you with this, as well as your mortgage application.

Who is it for?
The scheme is for buyers who are purchasing their sole property for up to £600,000. It is not available for buy-to-let investors or anyone who owns any other property.
Similarly, you can’t use Help to Buy if you plan to rent out the property you buy and want to buy a second home. The scheme is for buyers who plan to use the house as their only residence.
