Reporting to the Senior Land & Partnerships Manager, as Land & Partnerships Buyer you will be responsible for identifying and acquiring land suitable for residential development, both on an Open Market and Partnerships basis. Your role is crucial in securing sites that align with the company’s growth objectives and development pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Land Identification: Proactively source and evaluate potential development sites through market research, networking with landowners, agents, and local authorities.
  • Feasibility Assessment: Conduct thorough due diligence, including planning assessments, financial appraisals, and technical evaluations, to determine the viability of potential acquisitions.
  • Negotiation: Engage in negotiations with landowners and agents to secure land acquisitions at favourable terms, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with land agents, local authorities, BTR & Affordable providers and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth acquisition processes and stay informed about market opportunities.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all land acquisitions comply with relevant planning and legal regulations and prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management review.

What you will bring

  • Proven experience in land acquisition, planning, or development within the housebuilding industry. Experience and/or interest in Partnerships acquisitions is also desirable.
  • A degree in a relevant field such as geography, surveying, property development and valuation, building surveying, quantity surveying, or civil engineering is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system and residential development processes.
  • Ability to conduct detailed feasibility assessments and financial appraisals to evaluate potential sites.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and secure favourable acquisition terms.
  • Established network of contacts within the property and development industry to identify and secure new opportunities.
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple projects, ensure compliance, and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to embrace and role model our company values – Trust, Teamwork, Kindness and Passion.
  • A full driving licence and have use of own vehicle for business travel when required.
